Barker & Stonehouse is the UK’s biggest independent furniture retailer with nine stores offering the very best in furniture and accessories. July 2013 saw the opening of their first London store and they aimed to make a real impression on the media. Cool Blue was tasked with bringing in the UK’s leading interiors media and adding the wow-factor to the VIP launch event.
To get the new store off to a great start we combined a heavy feature placement plan pre-opening with an all day and night launch and Autumn/Winter press day in one
Over 70 ‘news’ announcements were secured for the new store across national, consumer local and trade press including key titles Stella, Evening Standard, Living etc, House & Garden, FT How to Spend It and Retail Week
The launch saw over 30 press in attendance including Editors from all key titles throughout the day and a full-to-capacity evening reception with over 250 guests coming to celebrate the launch
It was also supported by an active social media and blogger campaign keeping those who couldn’t attend firmly in the loop
