Earlier this week we headed to design shows Top Drawer and Home to check out some of the latest trends in accessories and objet. A slice of spring/summer in the middle of January, these two events (both housed at Olympia, London) are a great place to gather inspiration for the year ahead. So, what did we see?

Eye-catching and bold, neon hues really caught our attention. While we’ve seen occasional glimpses of them as accents over the last few years, these daring shades seem to have come into their own and are playing a bigger and brighter role in 2015’s colour palettes.

Gone are their awkward associations with adolescent style and in their place are a set of cool and creative hues that work beautifully when paired with sophisticated colours and textures. Notable combinations include dark grey walls and chic industrial surfaces such as concrete or un-finished woods.

A favourite at Top Drawer had to be Marby & Elm, a Clerkenwell based design studio that combines traditional letterpress printing techniques with futuristic neon inks to create a seriously covetable range of stationery.
