The famous physicist and former band member was on Teesside to officially open the college’s new £20m STEM Centre, and what a genuinely lovely guy!
He was given a tour of the centre which replicates a real industrial environment before giving a master class – and judging by the huge numbers of students (and staff) who wanted to meet him he was the ideal candidate for the job.
The new STEM Centre is delivering world class training in science, technology, engineering and maths to a new generation of apprentices and those already working in industry who want to upskill or retrain.
The official opening event yesterday was the culmination of three years of hard work by the college management team and an advisory board including more than 40 leading employers.
Cool Blue media experts have provided support at every stage.
We made sure business and education journalists were kept up to date with progress as the centre took shape, and we were able to arrange for as many of them as possible to speak to the celebrity scientist during yesterday’s event.
The regular updates meant online and print media were able to inform their audiences about the centre and about how it will play a key role in transforming the region’s economic competitiveness.
