There’s been a buzz in the Newcastle air this week as the city prepares to host the BBC 6 Music Festival for the first time.

After a successful inaugural event in Manchester last year, the festival is foraying further north and taking over Tyneside – with a bunch of big name acts in tow.

Brit award-nominated Royal Blood and 2014 Mercury winners Young Fathers will be performing, along with American heavyweights The War on Drugs and Grammy nominated Hot Chip.

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. With over 40 artists across six stages over three nights, the event is one of largest live music festivals to ever come to the Toon.

A fair few of us will be there over the weekend so to celebrate we’ve pulled together a playlist featuring songs from some of our favourite acts performing.
