It’s recently been revealed that Facebook plan on allowing brands to send customers advertisements via Facebook Messenger.
Messenger is one of Facebook’s most used and growing products, with over 800 million active users. The addition of targeted ads is seen as a way of allowing the social network to earn revenue from the product.
However, it’s understood this won’t become a ‘spammy’ practice as Facebook will only send ad messages to users who have previously opened a chat with a business. So if you’ve chatted with a company, about when your recent order will be delivered for example, this could mean that you may be the recipient of follow up ads.
