Creating an innovative website for an iconic British bed brand

Established in 1840, Somnus has over 175 years’ experience creating luxury handmade beds and mattresses that are at the forefront of design and technological innovation.

Somnus had recently been through a brand refresh and was in need of an exciting new website to bring the brand to life online for its affluent customers.

Solutions & Results:

Cool Blue’s expert team looked at the customer profiles and analysed existing marketing data to create an innovative website with logical and easy-to-understand structure that guided customers through the sales story, from initial interest through to enquiry and stockist locator.

We used an image-led approach to the design, combining product shots with images of the production process to reinforce key brand messages – high quality, handmade etc.

We introduced innovative new features, including a ‘Sleep Sanctuary’ providing customers with interactive information and a bed selector. Animated ‘hot spots’ were devised to bring key product features to life. Customers were also encouraged to find their nearest Somnus Sleep Studio, a feature using Google Maps technology.

Certain Somnus products are available globally. The new site utilises geo-location technology to ensure that customers only see products that are available to them providing the optimal user experience.
