Helping shine the light on STEM in the Tees Valley

Cool Blue has been working with Middlesbrough College for many years, helping raise the profile of the £100m campus, highlighting the achievements of its students, and supporting the leadership team with their ambitious growth plans.

Those plans include doing all they can to help tackle a national engineering skills gap – and boost the UK’s economic vibrancy – with the opening of a £20m STEM Centre.

The centre has already received support from more than 40 leading employers, and it’s our job to help the college fully utilise the centre by making sure as many more businesses as possible are aware of its existence and the workforce training available.

Just recently we were asked to share details of a new senior appointment – executive director of STEM, Andy Buckworth.

Andy has been tasked with leading the STEM Centre.

It’s exciting times for all those who have watched the centre take shape and the countdown is on to the doors opening in September.

Cool Blue has shared details of construction at key stages, from work beginning on site to the roof being lifted into place.

We are now eagerly anticipating seeing inside the super realistic manufacturing hall and industrial control centre, when the keys are handed over by the contractor in a few weeks’ time.

A recent press release about Andy’s appointment secured coverage from a wide variety of business media, who’ve been hugely supportive of the project.

Watch this space for more details when we get a glimpse inside the doors.
