Adobe recently launched a partnership with the Munch Museum in Oslo to bring the 100 year old paintbrushes of Edvard Munch to life, albeit in digital form.

Expert Photoshop brush maker, Kyle T. Webster helped translate 7 of Munch’s original brushes into digital form through a series of 360° photographs.

I’m not entirely sure of the exact science behind it all but it’s a nice way of recognising that digital art is a medium in its own right, and is making part of the museum’s collection available online in an innovative way.

The brushes are available to download free as part of Adobe’s Creative Cloud service and if you’re feeling inspired, they’ve set the slightly daunting task of creating the 5th ‘Scream’ (Edvard Munch famously created four versions of the work).
