Prince has owned London this week after performing two surprise concerts to fans at the Electric Ballroom in Camden.

After news of the concerts leaked, fans crammed Camden High-street like it was 1999 to queue for the 300 coveted tickets.

However, breakfast could wait for the determined fans who, despite the purple rain, waited in the wet for hours.

With space at a premium and the rain making people delirious, property search website Zoopla spotted a clever PR opportunity.

In a sign o’ the times, reps from the website handed out purple umbrellas which the fans gratefully accepted like thieves in a temple.

It was masterstroke from Zoopla, as those in the queue instantly started tweeting their gratitude.

The tweets were subsequently retweeted and the stunt made the morning papers.

It may not be the greatest romance ever sold but the stunt was a quick thinking piece of PR magic. Now if someone could deliver a little red corvette to help commuters beat the tube strike that would really be something.
