Sight and Sound
As a graphic designer you look for ideas and inspiration in ordinary things that are all around you.
You look at the shape, form and colours of everyday objects and their packaging, and appreciate the thought and work that has gone into them. Whether it’s pieces of furniture, pairs of trainers or luxury watches, good retail design makes items all the more collectable.
Like a film buff you also tend to have your favourite genre. Mine would have to be album covers as they combine two of my greatest interests – music and design.
I especially like the sleeves created by The Designers Republic for the independent Warp record label. The designs have led to a look that defines Warp’s music as different and distinctive and identifies it by visual style as well as sound.
