WE’VE worked with Redcar Enterprise Team for several years, helping them play an important role in boosting the local economy by providing free business support.
In the last year alone the team has supported more than 270 local SMEs, has helped create more than 150 jobs, and has given hundreds of residents the confidence and the guidance to launch their own businesses.
When the campaign launched it had ambitious goals, but every KPI we helped them tick off left us with that ‘job well done’ feeling – none more so than the launch of the Redcar and Cleveland Business Forum, a free monthly business networking event.
From a standing start in 2013 the forum was soon attracting up to 50 businesses to its breakfast events, and for many of them it was their first experience of networking.
Its popularity has grown, and this week we arranged for Kate Dawson from The All-in-One company to share her amazing success story with forum members.
She provided inspiration in abundance, and the feedback after the event was tremendous.
Kate is just the latest guest speaker we’ve secured for the Business Forum – others include TV star and upcycler extraordinaire Max McMurdo and Ben McBean, a former Royal Marine who lost an arm and a leg after stepping on a landmine in Afghanistan but who now runs a successful property development company.
Redcar and Cleveland has taken its knocks in the past, but its enterprising spirit is there for all to see – just come along to one of the regular Enterprise Team events and find out for yourself.
From ambitious start-ups to expanding businesses the Enterprise Team client companies are driving commercial success across the borough.
So with the New Year fast approaching it’s a nice time to reflect on our successes during 2014, and the Enterprise Team is definitely one of them.
