The College had identified a body of leading employers and industry experts to guide the development of the STEM Centre as it provided young people with routes into well-paid careers.

Cool Blue’s job was to launch the STEM Centre to potential students, the parents of those students, investors, regional politicians and regional employers that would benefit from its output.

We brought on board Professor Brian Cox OBE – who at the time was presenting a primetime programme on BBC1 and had successfully rejuvenated national interest in science. Professor Cox opened the STEM Centre at a media launch event, instigating widespread coverage and social media talk about the facility.

Solutions and results

Reporters from ITV, the BBC, regional print media, radio and business magazines attended, helping us to amplify our key messages about the College being a partner to regional industry and a gateway to opportunity for young people.

The event featured on BBC Breakfast news and across regional and trade media, making a direct hit with key audiences.
