A welcoming and generous spirit
Set in the heart of the established Stephenson Quarter, adjacent to Newcastle upon Tyne’s central railway station, with commanding views over the River Tyne – Founder’s Place, a new district in partnership with Newcastle City Council and PfP igloo, will bring purpose to its surroundings. Once the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution and home to George and Robert Stephenson’s rail engineering yards – the site is layered with some of the most beautiful architecture of the last two hundred years.
The revolution will be one of sustainable design - with sympathetically restored original buildings, biophilic design of new buildings, well-considered landscaping and use of natural materials. Founders Place will become a place where each visitor will find their place, enjoy a sense of community and be part of something extremely special
As a newly developed site within the city centre, we needed to develop a strong and authentic brand identity which effectively communicated the vision, the offering and provide differentiation to other mixed-use sites across the city. A suite of family related brands were also developed for each commercial property which sits within Founder’s Place.
The Approach
The great innovations of Robert Stephenson and Company on this site 200 years ago was not brought about by bells and whistles… it was all about the engine, the endeavour of improvement, making something from component parts that work more efficiently together and responding to the needs of time.
This is akin to our approach. Our site identity and family of brands bring a nod to the heritage but focus on the clear emphasis on the creation of workspaces and places that bring people, collaboration and wellbeing together.
